On February 15, leaders from the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office and the Changning District Committee of the CPC visited Shanghai Art Collection Museum, led by Zhang Xiaosong, director of the Foreign Affairs Office, Liu Guangyong,vice director,and Han Zhiqiang, vice party secutary of the Changning District Committee.
Hu Muqing, president of Shanghai Art Collection Museum, provided a detailed introduction on the museum, especially about its work in recent years in international cultural and art exchange, international exhibitions, expansion of museum collection, and development of cultural creative products.
After appreciating part of the museum’s collection, the leaders highly praised the works collected by the museum. With the introduction of Mr. Hu Muqing, the leaders visited the museum’s ongoing special exhibition “When Art Meets Science”, and acquired detailed understanding on the museum’s wide range of cultural creative products based on Shanghai’s symbols, intangible cultural heritages, the museum collection as well as works by famous artists.
Mr. Zhang Xiaosong highly praised the museum’s work, especially in international cultural exchange and development of cultural creative products. He stated that the Foreign Affairs Office will actively support the museum’s effort in further promoting international cultural exchange, and that the Foreign Affairs Office will be the supervising organization for the series of international events including the 7th International (Shanghai) Invitational Exhibition of Traditional Fine Art and the 5th International (Shanghai) Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Forum and provide guidance for international affairs for cultural exchange.
Mr. Zhang also expressed the hope to build a long-term cooperation relation between the Foreign Affairs Office and Shanghai Art Collection Museum. He encouraged that the museum continue to develop its strength in the development of cultural creative products in order to better serve in foreign affairs.
Other leaders from the Foreign Affairs Office included Yang Zhe, chief of secretariat, Li Chunping, director of the European-African Division, Chen Lie, deputy chief of secretariat, Huang Yingru, director of the American Division; other members of the museum reporting included Li Shuiqing, executive curator, and Niu Jinjin, deputy curator.
