In the morning of June 5th, distinguished people gathered in the Shanghai Art Collection Museum, where various spectacular works were exhibited. The 9th International Exhibition of Traditional Fine Arts had its grand opening here along with the beautiful melody.

Mr. Muqing Hu, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee, introduced participating guests.

Mr. Meng Qingyuan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Changning District People's Government, delivered a speech.

Mr. Akio Isomata, Consul General of Japan in Shanghai, delivered a speech.

Ms. Li Shuiqing, Executive Director of Shanghai Art Collection Museum, Ms. Cang Ping, Director of Shanghai Art & Design Academy and Ms. Xia Ping, Director of Shanghai Municipal Culture & Arts Archives jointly signed the MOU on co-holding the “International Tour Exhibition of Chinese Traditional Fine Arts – Istanbul Station”.

More than 150 representatives from different sectors of the society participated in the opening, such as Ms. Tomoko Takaoka, Cultural Consul of Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai , Mr. Dong Wuk Seo, Cultural Consul of Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, Ms. Eva Boehmer, Cultural Consul of Consulate General of the Republic of Austria in Shanghai, Ms. Petra Hullova, Vice Consul of Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Shanghai, Mr. Iju Naoya, Deputy Director of Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Okinawa Prefectural Government, Mr. Noboru Hata, President of Kyoto Arts and Crafts Artists Association, Mr. Gisen Tahara, Religious Affairs President of World Cultural Heritage Site, Tenryu-ji, Mr. Mahdi Tamizi, Director of the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art, Ms. Liu Chaoying, President of Beijing Museums Society, Ms. Chen Xiumei, Director of Fujian Museum of Arts, Director of Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Mr. Oleg Pinchuk, Adviser to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Director General of the Contemporary Art Center M17 in Kiev, Famous Sculptor, Mr. Kyeong Ho Kim, Honorary Chairman of the South Korean Sutra Transcribing Association and other representatives of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, organizers, supporters, related district departments, Shanghai enterprises as well as artists and experts from more than 10 countries.

After the opening ceremony, guests visited the exhibition freely.

The variety of the exhibits gave the visitors an deep impression.

After the opening ceremony, other series events such as the 5th International (Shanghai) Cultural Tourism Program Promotion Conference and the 7th International (Shanghai) Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Forum were also held successfully (see related reports).

First round of the 9th International Exhibition of Traditional Fine Arts lasts from June 5th to June 24th, 2019 (The museum is closed on Mondays) and is free to the public.
