Also known as Jianbi, Chen Peiqiu was a leading figure of the Shanghai School of Painting. A graduate of the National Academy of Art, she served as a painter at the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, visiting professor at Shanghai University, commissioner of the China Artists Association, and member of the Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History.

Over a career spanning many decades, Chen held solo and group exhibitions across China, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States, Germany, and France.
