Also known as Zezé, courtesy name Zongmeng, and studio name Owner of Shuanggua CottageLin Changmin was a prominent cultural figure and acclaimed calligrapher of early Republican China—and the father of the noted writer and architect Lin Huiyin.

A native of Minhou, Fujian, Lin studied at St. John's University, Shanghai, and Waseda University, Japan. He served as Minister of Justice, Secretary-General of the Provisional Senate, and Director of the Bureau of Law and Politics, and was an early advocate of constitutional monarchy whose writings helped spark the May Fourth Movement.

Renowned for elegant yet vigorous brushwork praised by Kang Youwei as the finest in Fujian, Lin's calligraphy embodies both refined scholarly grace and dynamic energy, as seen in this inscription dedicated to Shi Shengzu.
