SACM & Indonesian Heritage Agency Having Co-hosted Masterclass


From 24th to 25th July 2024, at the invitation of the Indonesian Heritage Agency (IHA), the Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the Shanghai Art Collection Museum and the IHA successfully organised the Partnership Masterclass at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta. About 50 people attended the masterclass, including heads of General Department, Communication and Partnership Team, Cultural Heritage Team, Conservation and Collection Team, Curatorial and Exhibition Team, and other departments of the IHA, and experts from 18 museums directly under the IHA, such as National Gallery of Indonesia, Museum Kebangkitan Nasional, Museum Sumpah Pemuda, Museum Naskah Proklamasi, Museum Basoeki Abdullah and Museum Batik Indonesia. Hu Muqing, President of SACM, and Marie Mao, Head of External Liaison Department, were invited to be the speakers of the masterclass and shared their experience and practices of international communication.


The IHA organised a grand opening ceremony for the masterclass. The national flags of China and Indonesia were placed on the site, and the national anthems of China and Indonesia were played. S.Si Rini, Head of General Department of the IHA and Hu Muqing, President of SACM, delivered speeches on behalf of the two parties; Pan Wenliang, First Secretary and Ding Shan, Third Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, and Li Zhiquan, Director of China News Service in Indonesia, attended the opening of the master class.

After the opening ceremony, President Hu Muqing shared his views on the topic of "Promoting Friendship and Interaction through Cultural Arts" in the light of the practices of cultural exchanges and between the SACM and nearly 70 countries.

On 25th July, Marie Mao, Head of External Liaison Department of SACM, shared on the operations and practices of international cultural activities under the title of "Experience and Methods of International Communication and Cooperation".

The masterclass on the cultural and museum sector was fully affirmed by the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia. After the masterclass, Qiu Xinli, Counselor, Ding Li, Director of Information and Public Affairs Section, and Pan Wenliang, First Secretary, received the SACM delegation in the Embassy.

This masterclass opens a new chapter of cultural exchange between the Shanghai Art Collection Museum and Indonesia. In return, the IHA will provide the National Gallery of Indonesia as the venue for the “International Tour Exhibition of Chinese Traditional Fine Arts (Jakarta Station)” organised by SACM.
